Welcome to our Social and Political Justice Resources Page
Many London Baptist Churches are engaged in actively working with and within their communities to ensure that they model God's Kingdom through the way they care for and bring peace and justice to the people in their local neighbourhoods.
Community Organising
Rev Phil Warburton, minister of Stoke Newington Baptist Church, leads the Community Organising area of our justice hub. Phil is a Baptist minister who has served in East London for 27 years initially leading an Urban Expression church plant that eventually became E1 Community Church. Phil left Tower Hamlets in 2023 and moved up the A10 to Hackney to become pastor of Stoke Newington Baptist Church. Over the past 8 years Phil has also worked as Community Organiser with Citizens UK. Community Organising is a way of working that develops leaders, builds congregations and wins social justice for our people and communities. His favourite theologian is Stanley Hauerwas, his favourite footballer Paul Scholes and his favourite food is Curry.

Red Letter Christians
Red Letter Christians UK is a relational network for those who want to live for Jesus and Justice. Their focus is connecting and supporting Christian activists and community leaders across the UK. They aim to provide practical tools for developing advocacy and organising skills alongside deepening spiritual resilience. We seek out spiritual and tactical resonance, creating opportunities to pursue justice together. They aim to amplify prophetic voices from the margins who bring spiritual depth, experience and a healthy dose of challenge to national conversations. RLC has a London Network which has grown out of Bonny Downs Church, and includes church leaders from across the city. You can find out more information on their website.
Red Letter Christians UK have recently published a book - "Jesus and Justice" which brings together 26 authors from across the UK, writing about their lived experience of seeking Jesus and justice in their communities. You can purchase it on amazon or via their website. This video tells the story of the process that went into writing the book.
