Phil has been a Baptist Minister since 2000. Following local pastorates in Hertford and Mitcham Lane (Streatham), Phil was called into his current role in 2016. A former retail manager by trade, his journey into pastoral ministry came about from his time at London Bible College (now London School of Theology). His enduring passion is for the church and gospel to be relevant and applicable to today’s society. He lives in Tooting (Furzedown) with his wife, Jen. They have three children who are rapidly growing up. They have a naughty dog, Willow, who looks cute but beware! As for Phil’s love of Spurs, it’s a long and somewhat painful commitment. Best not to talk about it really. Music is his main hobby and he is a multi-instrumentalist with a particular affection for synthesisers. The more buttons, knobs and switches the better!
Aside from his pastoral and leadership responsibilities, Phil represents London Baptists nationally as part of the Baptists Together Core Leadership Team, Baptist Union Council, and Moderator of the Regional Minister Team Leaders group. Internationally, he is one of the representatives from Baptists Together on Baptist World Alliance General Council. He is also a trustee of London Church Leaders (the pan-London senior church leaders group) and a Director of both London Baptists and the London Baptist Property Board. He is interim moderator of our Finance Committee and deputy safeguarding lead.
Phil is on sabbatical until mid December, so if you have any queries you would normally direct towards Phil, please contact our association administrator, Nigel Redford, who will pass on those queries to the relevant person to help you.
